Save these dates for the special 2020 edition of Cranskgiving: Nov. 7, Nov. 14, and Nov. 21. The need for food assistance is as great as ever, and so is the need to collect food safely, so we are spreading Cranksgiving over 3 weekends! We are still working out details, but start thinking about a ride with your family or small group. No big party and no competitions–we are all one big team this year, and we’re all winners when we feed KC’s hungry!
Since we’re “prohibited” from gathering together this year as we normally do, how about you host your own Speakeasy? Let’s get creative to have a fabulous evening of fun, supporting one of your favorite foundations. The silent and live auctions will be loaded with one-of-a-kind experiences, great adventures, cool art, memorabilia, and special items. To find out about sponsor opportunities, ticket prices, raffle ticket sales and more go to: firefoundation.org.
St. Peter’s Parish is committed to providing religious education for the families of our parishioners whose children do not attend St. Peter’s School. We collaborate with Visitation Parish to offer this important education, which includes sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Classes will be held online throughout the fall semester; whether spring semester classes will be online is to be determined at a later date. Please click here for details and registration. The schedule for St. Peter’s First Reconciliation and First Communion is TBA.
It’s time again for the social distancing version of Donut Sunday! We will be handing out bags of carefully packaged donuts in the west portico of the church after Sunday Masses on July 19 (approximate times 9:45-10:15 and 11:45-12:15).
Can you help us restock the food pantry? We are having another curbside donation drop-off on the following days: Tuesday, July 14 and Tuesday, July 21, 1-4 p.m. Just pull up to the curb near the social services entrance to the Legacy Center, and put your donation in the drop-off bins. Items that are in low supply include:
Canned Ham or Spam
Canned or jarred fruits (Please no pineapple, we have plenty)
Jello and Pudding packs and mix
Corn Muffin Mix
Jelly and Jams
Deodorant (Men’s and Women’s)
- Headphones are an optional purchase.
- Families will still need to purchase backpack and St. Peter’s pencil bag (for 1st-8th graders; many students are able to reuse from the previous year – these will be available at Packet Day in August).
- Paint shirts for art are NOT included in pre-packaged supplies.
- Kleenex/Tissues, Clorox Wipes, hand sanitizer, and paper towels will need to be purchased separately this year due to high demand and COVID-19 shortages. We encourage you to purchase these supplies as you find them available.
- The deadline to order is June 30.
Parents, here’s a virtual event for teens 13-18. Nathan Crankfield, our Dynamic Parish consultant, will talk with teens about dealing with pandemic anxiety, despair, and anger. It’s Wednesday evening at 7 pm (central time) on Zoom: http://ow.ly/FtX750zJToh.
What are you grateful for? Something as simple as making a gratitude list can remind us that there are good things happening all around us. We invite you to visit MyGratitudeList.us to find reflection videos on gratitude brought to you through Dynamic Parish–there’s one for adults and one for the kids. Then get busy on your list, or make one with the family!
