Youth Faith Formation
St. Peter’s Parish offers multiple opportunities for teens (and adult volunteers) to engage in spiritual development and service in our community, through Youth activities. Here are just some of the ways you can get involved:
Incoming 6th grade and older students are invited to assist at the altar during weekend Masses, school Masses, and special liturgical celebrations. Training is offered at the beginning of summer and also usually again just before school starts in the fall. Watch the weekly bulletin and school announcement for details on training.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
At the 9 a.m. Sunday Mass, children ages 4-2nd grade are invited after the opening prayer to go to the church basement with adult volunteers to discuss the readings and Gospel in a separate Liturgy of the Word discussion appropriate to their level of understanding. This ministry is offered during the school year, and adult volunteers are always welcome. The Children’s Liturgy is on hold due to the Covid pandemic. Please watch announcements information about it resuming.
In the fall, incoming freshman in high school and older students are invited to prepare for confirmation and a re-commitment to their Catholic faith. Students will participate in group meetings, attend Mass together, attend a retreat, and find a sponsor who can attend some meetings and confirmation. Confirmation instruction begins during the freshman year of high school.

During Sunday morning Masses, Adult and Youth volunteers care for young children (Kindergarten and younger) in the church basement nursery. A donation of $2.00 per child is encouraged. Please contact Corinne Wolff, firstname.lastname@example.org to become a volunteer.
Parish School of Religion
We provide religious education for the families of our parishioners whose children attend public or non-Catholic private schools or who are home schooled and are in grades K-8. We collaborate with Visitation Parish to offer this important education, which includes sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

COMING SOON! A new youth group!
Please note: Adults (ages 18+) who would like to volunteer with our Youth are required to complete a background check and complete a three-hour classed called “Protecting God’s Children for Adults.” This is a program to ensure safe environments in all parishes, schools, and diocesan programs. Learn more about the program here, or sign up for the training required for all adult volunteers through this Virtus link. Please note, you must register in advance for this class. Walk-in’s will not be accepted.
