Sacramental Faith Formation
The celebration of the seven sacraments is fundamental to our Catholic faith and the opportunity to grow spiritually. We’ve listed the sacraments below, along with a brief description and contact information, in the event you would like to receive them. Also, please don’t hesitate to call these numbers, if you would like to volunteer to work with the preparation teams.
This team, which includes volunteer parents, discusses the meaning of Baptism with new parents in the family and community. Baptism preparation is required for all parents seeking the sacrament for their first child, but not for subsequent baptisms. Please contact parish secretary Mary Pfeifer for info. (816) 363-2320.
First Reconciliation, First Communion, and the Parish School of Religion
St. Peter’s School offers preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion as part of the religion curriculum. The Parish School of Religion is available for children of the parish K-8 who do not attend St. Peter’s School. Classes begin in the fall and continue through the spring.
Confirmation Preparation (High School Students)
Candidates begin sacramental preparation as high school freshmen. They participate together in small and large group instruction, perform community service, celebrate Mass together, and attend a retreat as part of their formation.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA-Confirmation for Adults)
This formation process is for adults and families interested in exploring the possibility of becoming Catholic. Candidates and Catechumens meet every Sunday morning to discuss the Gospel and learn about the faith. If they choose to become Catholic they will be brought into the church during the Easter Vigil service. Parishioners may share in the initiation process by sponsoring candidates, serving on the RCIA teaching team, offering hospitality during sessions, or caring for children of RCIA candidates during the sessions.
Engaged couples wishing to get married at St. Peter’s should contact the parish office as soon as possible and at least nine months in advance of the desired wedding date to make arrangements for preparation. Please contact parish secretary Mary Pfeifer for info. (816) 363-2320.
Confessions are offered every Saturday afternoon in the Main Church between 4:15-4:45 p.m. (right before 5:00 p.m. Mass) or by appointment. During Advent and Lent, the parish offers opportunities to take part in Communal Penance services.
Anointing of the Sick
Please contact the parish office to set up an appointment with one of our priests if you or a loved one would like to be anointed. (816) 363-2320
