Building demolition continued throughout the month of June, and the changes are remarkable. The interior stairway near the art room has been removed, as have most of the walls that defined Mrs. Kovac’s office, the art room and Ms. Guthrie’s classroom. Looking through the art room area, one can see the posts from the old gym that previously occupied that space. In the resource room, the large opening in the floor looks down to what was the computer lab in the library. That area was once a stage at the far end of the old gym. The crew is almost done with exterior stone tuckpointing and have begun excavation of large trenches in the yard along Meyer Blvd. These are necessary for installation of new water service and drainage systems. The changes to the exterior are surprising at first but the beauty of the old buildings is emerging in new ways.
