You may notice a few changes in the Church sanctuary over the next few weeks. Our beautiful tabernacle is being moved to a new location, to a platform directly behind the altar, and the statue of the Blessed Mother, which previously resided in the old baptistery to the east of the altar, will be moved to the alcove on the west side of the altar, where the tabernacle is currently located. The ambo will also be removed briefly for refurbishing. This marks a bit of a return to the past for St. Peter’s. When the Church was built, the tabernacle was placed behind the altar and a statue of Mary stood in the west alcove, designated then as “The Lady Chapel.” We hope you agree these changes will give our sacred tabernacle a place of prominence and put the body of Christ at the center of all we do.
