All Hands On Deck! Help Pack Up the School!
Over the next two weeks, our school staff will be packing everything they will need for the fall semester at Southwest, and we will be completely clearing the north building to get ready for the renovation. Please volunteer at here. Note there are 4 tabs: packing help, room salvage, moving help, and aftercare packing. Something for everyone! We will have movers for the heavy lifting.
Join the Landscape Maintenance Committee
The Landscape Maintenance Committee is devoted to keeping our campus beautiful and welcoming through all seasons. Can you help? We need volunteers to water and keep us blooming all summer! Contact Mary Hellings if you can spare a few hours. There is something to fit any schedule. Bring the kids, or just enjoy the peace and beauty on your own.
Volunteers Needed for Graduation Brunch, May 20
Our beloved Sally always took care of this event and made it so special for our 8th-grade students and their families. Please volunteer here to continue her tradition of creating a memorable gathering as our 8th-grade students leave St. Peter’s School. There are opportunities on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We’ll need our biggest crew on Saturday for the cleanup afterward. The gym needs to be empty for the “big school move” starting on Sunday!
Leaders Needed For Children’s Liturgy
We need adult and high-school aged volunteers to assist with our Children’s Liturgy of the Word ministry, which is offered throughout the school year during the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass. Children ages 4 – 2nd grade are invited after opening prayer to accompany the weekly teacher and helper to the church basement where they learn about the readings and gospel in ways they can understand. The children pray, share, listen, sing, and color in activity books, then return to the Mass prior to the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Volunteers are needed to teach the lessons and assist with supervising the children. This is a great opportunity for high school students in need of service hours to serve as the “helper”, or adults eager to help our youngsters learn the Word. Preparation for the lesson requires no more than a few moments perusing the teacher’s guide and weekly activity book. We are in dire need of more volunteers to continue this wonderful ministry. To get involved, please contact email@example.com. All adult volunteers must complete Protecting God’s Children.
Money Counters Needed
Adults are needed to count the collections on Sunday. It takes about one hour of your time. There should be a sizable pool of trained volunteers so that the task is not burdensome on any one person. Please contact Warren Blevins in the parish office at (816) 363-2320, Ext. #131 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
St. Peter’s Music Ministry
Ever considered joining our Sunday 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. Choir? We’re also looking for soloists who are interested in being Cantors for Saturday or Sunday Masses, as well as instrumental accompanists. Contact our Music Director, James Wagner, at (816) 363-2320, #114 or email@example.com. Classes resume in September, following our summer hiatus. Please join us!
Seniors’ Center Friday Volunteers (Adults)
Click here to find a Friday date (9:30-11:30 a.m.) work at the Seniors’ Center at St. Therese Little Flower parish. Volunteers pack Meals on Wheels lunches. Several seniors also come to this center for lunch and fellowship. Our goal is to have a nurse available to discuss health concerns with seniors and perform blood pressure screenings. We also need 8 volunteers to assist Sharon Sanders (lunch program director) with packaging meals for delivery and serving lunch.
St. Peter’s Community Garden
Dan Needham would love to welcome new volunteers to the crew of community gardeners. He could use some help watering or havesting the garden, a great service opportunity for our Youth. Call Dan at (816) 877-0300 or e-mail him at firstname.lastname@example.org if you or your family would like join the gardeners.
