Back-to-School Food Drive This Week

It’s been a busy summer in the food pantry! Our back-to-school food drive is this week, so when you’re making your shopping list, please consider adding a few of these items. Grade level suggestions are listed below for school families:
ECLC–bar soap; Kindergarten–Peanut Butter; 1st grade–crackers; 2nd Grade–Jelly; 3rd Grade–Pasta or Sauce; 4th Grade–Canned Meat; 5th Grade–Cereal; 6th Grade–Canned Fruit; 7th Grade–One-Can Meals; 8th Grade–Shampoo.

Leaders Needed for Children’s Liturgy

We need adult and high-school aged volunteers to assist with our Children’s Liturgy of the Word ministry, which is offered throughout the school year during the Sunday 9 a.m. Mass. Children ages 4 – 2nd grade are invited after opening prayer to accompany the weekly teacher and helper to the church basement where they learn about the readings and gospel in ways they can understand. To get involved, please contact All adult volunteers must complete Protecting God’s Children.

RCIA Classes Begin in September

Classes for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) are available for anyone who wants to learn more about the Catholic faith. Parish School of Religion Begins Sept. 11

St. Peter’s collaborates with Visitation Parish to present the School of Religion, which provides religious education and sacramental preparation for children in grades 1-8 who do not attend St. Peter’s School. Classes are every Monday from 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. beginning September 11. Be a “Lead to Read” Volunteer

Last school year, 15 parishioners helped 2nd graders at Troost Elementary learn to read, one lunch hour at a time. If you’re interested in reading with a student in their classroom, one-on-one, for a half hour each week during the school year, come find out more about Lead to Read KC, the program we partnered with last year, and will be part of again this year. Volunteers Needed for Round for Brian Golf Tournament

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED for the 7th annual “Round for Brian” golf tournament held in memory of Brian Euston, STP class of 2001, scheduled for Saturday, July 22, at Hillcrest Golf Club.A Round for Brian III logo Proceeds each year are donated to St. Peter’s School and Rockhurst High School.
