Parish Picnic 2017 – Sunday, June 25

Parish Picnic 2017 – Sunday, June 25

Our annual parish picnic is coming! Please join us on Sunday, June 25th at the beautiful Swope Park bandstand pavilion. Our event will be extra-special this year as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Fr. Steve Cook’s ordination. We will begin with 11:00 Mass in pavilion, followed by the picnic (12:15-ish).

This is a family-friendly gathering for all parishioners. Hamburgers and hot dogs provided for all, grilled by our Knights of Columbus. Please bring a dish to share. We always need help for set up and clean up. Please consider volunteering!

The link for both volunteering and food sign up is HERE. Thanks! See you on the 25th.

Upon This Rock – Accelerated Giving before June 30

We want to remind you that you can significantly increase the impact of your pledge to Upon this Rock, our capital campaign, by accelerating some or all of your payments prior to the end of the current fiscal year on June 30. Every $1 you pay before June 30 is worth almost 10% more to us than it will be on July 1 (when we begin our new fiscal year).

Why? As you probably know, we pay the diocese a “tax” on all our parish income, called a Cathedraticum. The Cathedraticum helps pay for important diocesan support, plus insurance for our priests and staff. It is paid by all parishes in all dioceses. The formula can be complicated, but begins as a tax of 9.25% on all income received in a year. This percent is sometimes later reduced by other parish expenses.

BUT the rules state that the Cathedraticum cannot grow more than 25% in any one year, regardless of our income. Because we have already received over $2 million in campaign cash this year, we have passed this 25% threshold. All cash we receive before June 30 will be exempt from the 9.25% tax.

Thanks to all who have already made additional payments. If your situation allows, please consider increasing the impact of your gift by accelerating your remaining commitment. We appreciate everything you have done – and will do – to make our campaign a success.

Volunteers Needed for Graduation Brunch, May 20

Our beloved Sally always took care of this event and made it so special for our 8th-grade students and their families. Please volunteer here to continue her tradition of creating a memorable gathering as our 8th-grade students leave St. Peter’s School. There are opportunities on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We’ll need our biggest crew on Saturday for the cleanup afterward. The gym needs to be empty for the “big school move” starting on Sunday!

Join the Landscape Maintenance Committee

The Landscape Maintenance Committee is devoted to keeping our campus beautiful and welcoming through all seasons. Can you help? We need volunteers to water and keep us blooming all summer! Contact Mary Hellings if you can spare a few hours. There is something to fit any schedule. Bring the kids, or just enjoy the peace and beauty on your own.
